Week 1 - Home MTC - Can I dunk my Coke flavored Oreos in my Oreo flavored Coke? - May 31, 2025

 I LOVE THIS!!

First time wearing the tag!

My home MTC set up.

So many people told me Home MTC was boring and that I wouldn't enjoy it, but they were wrong. Would I rather be in Mexico already? Definitely, but I still think home MTC is great. I love getting to spend so much of my time devoted to the Lord and learning about him. I also love learning Spanish! I'm only a week down and I've already learned so much more than I ever did in high school or through anything else I've done to learn Spanish. I'm just so happy to finally be a missionary.

Alright first things first lets introduce my district. My district, as my teachers say, is "la cabra" or the goat. Its funny how that slang carries over even though it really doesn't make much sense in Spanish.

Everyone is in clumped in with their companions so you know who goes with who.

Élder Garner: My Companion. He's honestly such a chill dude and such a good example for me. He's so focused on the gospel, but he's also just a lot of fun to talk to. Plus Star Wars is his favorite Movie, so basically he's the best.
Élder Sibbett: This dude is pure energy and so funny. He also has some super powerful insights. He gives sports bro vibes, but like in a good way.
Élder Checketts: Alright so picture like the mannerisms and and energy of someone who lives on a farm in Wyoming. This is the perfect way to picture him because... he lives on a farm... in Wyoming. Also I don't think I've ever seen his hands not clasped
Hermana Jonkman: She is a theatre kid. Do I need to say more? But for real she seems super nice and always share some good thoughts. She hasn't realized I did theatre yet, but anytime we end up on a call with each other the theatre kid energy is jus lingering.
Hermana Alatina: Okay so I know like nothing about her. The only time we've talked is during breakout sessions in Spanish and well I guess we all learn at our own speed. She's trying her hardest but she just doesn't know the vocab to communicate yet, but she'll get there and when she does Ill be sure to tell y'all all about her!
Hermana Adams: She is the most unserious person and its so fun. We'll be in the middle of lessons and you can look over and just see her making faces at herself in the camera. You can often see her running around on and off the screen during our breaks. She definitely can be more serious at times, but If you end up in a break out room with her you know your going to be laughing.
Hermana Frank: She gave the prayer in Spanish on the first day. She is also always pretty quick to answer questions. So she was very prepped for this I guess. Its been funny to see over the week how she's slowly been matching Herman Adams energy. Definitely lots of funny faces between the 2 of them.
Hermana Anderson: She is definitely the most dialed in out off all of us. Her Spanish is solid and sometimes the thoughts she has are just like what? How did you even think of that? She's definitely going to be a good missionary no doubt.
Hermana Thueson: She loves to start up conversions with the most wild takes. I don't even know how its possible to have as many as she does. Nothing bad, but just stuff that totally not the norm.

This week was just kinda getting used to missionary life. Its funny because over the first day and a half my whole district didn't really interact much, but then on Tuesday we realized that we could talk to each other during our little breaks during our lessons and now that's just what we use our breaks for. During one of those breaks my teacher joined in and brought up Oreo flavored Coke which sparked Élder Garner to bring up Coke Flavored Oreos, so of course I had to ask the question in the title. Anyway I love my district and I cant wait to meet them all in person and I especially cant wait to smoke Élders Sibbett and Checkett in pickleball (They decided that was the best way to decide who the best Élders were).
As far as what I did this week, lots of walks,

lots of game playing,

lots of food,
Lunch with Grandma and Zach

Hot chocolate at my desk because my house is cold

Dinner with my family.

7 billionth trip to Costco!

Definitely a good week!
Here are the pictures from this week. I Included a screenshot of my district in a lesson. I'm sure they'd all be super excited to know I clipped them all. I included comments on some of the pictures so look out for those.
