Week 4 - Mexico CCM - 1 Year - June 24, 2025
If I had left on my original date, today would have been the 1 year mark of being out. It's really crazy to think that I would've been halfway done. I'm glad I waited though! I know I'm where I am supposed to be right now! God has a plan for me and I know being here, now, is part of it.
Anyways this week was interesting. You may be thinking to yourself "Hey wait a minute I thought your P-day was Thursdays" and you'd be right. If you weren't thinking that, I don't blame you because I swear they change it every week. In preparation for all the new missionaries that will be here this summer, the CCM changed everything. Our teachers changed, our class times changed, meal times changed, and our p-days changed. I don't really like the new schedule and I miss my teachers, but It's alright.
So let's get down to what happened the last 4 days. Friday, I literally don't know what happened. I literally have a journal entry from Friday that just talks about how I had no clue what happened, so I guess it was just a very forgettable day.

Saturday was our last day with our OG teachers. It was actually such a sad day. We were all kind of down that day. I guess they're just getting us used to change.

Sunday was a nice rest day. It was as basic as Sundays get here. Sacrament meeting, then priesthood meeting, then a nice long break, followed by lunch, then a district Sunday class, and then another long break, and then dinner and a devotional. During the second break one of the elders in our casa borrowed a guitar from the CCM and was playing some... very spiritual gospel songs... yeah we'll go with that. We all went over to their room and just listened. And then Elder Garner took a turn and man can he play. I was very impressed. Anyways there really isn't anything else to talk about for Sunday.
Monday was our first day with our new schedule and our new teachers. Our first teacher is alright. He thought we were in our last week so he prepared the wrong lesson and had to hurry and figure out what he was actually supposed to teach us. He ended up teaching us a really good grammar lesson. It was a big aha moment for me. There were just some things that I just didn't understand and now I do. Our second teacher was alright. He's a very nice guy, but I just miss Hermano Aparicio. It's alright though, I'm sure I will be missing our new teacher by the end.
And now today. The temple is closed for the rest of my time here so I won't be going anymore, so today we have a lot of time. We've really just cleaned and I went with Elder Garner to get a haircut. I've decided I'm going to have to try and cut my own hair or something. Elder Garner looks great, but the lady that cut his hair has like 1 hairstyle and it's not what I'm going for!
Spiritual thought: But If Not
This week one of the elders in our casa shared a talk called "But If Not..." by Dennis E. Simmons. This talk tells the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego who were tossed into a fiery furnace for staying true to their faith. They were asked "And who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?”. They responded by saying “If it be so [if you cast us into the furnace], our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand.” This is often what we think of as faith, nothing going wrong because we are faithful, so God will help us, but they continued by saying “But if not, … we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up". But if not. Things don't always go the way we think. We have to continue to trust God no matter what happens. We have to stay true to what we believe because we know it's right. I highly recommend you all go read this talk. Read or Listen by Clicking Here
