Week 8 - Colmena - It's Christmas Time In The City! - July 21, 2025

 Hola Todos!

This week we had zone conference. It was kind of rough because I woke up feeling kind of sick. It was cool to meet the whole zone!

We had a lot of appointments cancel on us. We'd be on our way to a confirmed appointment and they'd call us and tell us never mind. We also tried to contact a ton of people, but no one would pick up or answer their doors.
Another planning session at a park.
We did have a few lessons though. We had one with this dude named Jorge who wants to change his life and is tired of the catholic church because he feels like no one there actually does the kind of things you need to do to be a part of the church, for example actually going to church. Then we had a lesson with this guy named Pedro. That one was mostly interesting because he is from Spain. It was fun to listen to his accent. We also had one with this guy named Antonio. He's super nice and funny. He loves the church and wants to be baptized but he really likes coffee. We told him that he needs to stop drinking it and he said okay. He's been slowly cutting down. Super excited for him.

We also had our first English class. Everyone and their mom told us they were definitely 100% going to be there because who doesn't love a free English class? The answer is everyone and their mom, apparently, because only 3 people actually showed up. It was actually super fun though.

Fun fact my ward is the Colmena ward. For those of you who don't know, colmena means beehive. That was really funny to me being from Utah - the beehive state. Well the same day that I was thinking about that, it hailed. Like 2 feet of hail in some spots. Luckily we were in one of our few lessons from this week at the time. It was super cool to see. My comp told me that was the closest thing he's seen to snow the whole time he's been here. Christmas in the city!
Hail in front of the Colmena Ward chapel made me feel like I was at home.
Anyways love you all!

From our phone call:
Their washer and dryer went out today. Rigging up an indoor clothes drying line because it is raining outside.
At one of their lunch appointments, a man gave each of them one of these old 'pennies'
A little girl in one of their lessons told him he looked like Dennis from Hotel Transylvania :)
They went to a street market today for p-day.
It is the rainy season in Mexico City right now. He says every day after about 2:00, it is a downpour. He gave up on his regular shoes after the first couple of days and said he wears his waterproof dress boots every day and keeps his ankle length raincoat with him all the time. The picture of the street market was today at about 1:30. The video is from today at 7:30.
He says, "It started hailing. We're at a park."
