Week 11 - Colmena - "What are they going to do? Send me home?" - August 11, 2025

 What's up everyone!

This week was good!

Monday was interesting. After P-day we went out to a family we had been teaching and I invited one of the daughters to get baptized. Then the Mom went off about how they were baptized as babies and don't need to be baptized again and how she wants her family to be catholic. Which is sad because her daughter is super interested and wants to be baptized.

Tuesday I did exchanges with the district leaders and I had to stay in my area this time so I had to lead us. That was pretty scary, but it worked out super well! We had planned to go visit someone who had ghosted us and lives super far away, but as we were getting ready to leave, I told the district leader that we had a bunch of investigators that we hadn't set up lessons with yet and that I thought we should spend our time doing that instead. Well, we contacted every single person and they all set up lessons and one of them even came to church this week! Super exciting.

Wednesday we had some good lessons. And one of them was with a father and son who we found out were rockers. The Dad was dripped out and looked super sick for like a 60 year old dude. I was actually super jealous of his sweater. I'll have to ask him where he got it next time we meet with them.

Thursday we had a meeting with the Mission President and all the other greenies.
It was hype. We did a bunch of practices and stuff. I also got to see Elder Garner!
He's doing good! His birthday was on Friday of this week and I had planned on getting him a gift from the store before the meeting but we got stuck in traffic on the way to the meeting so we didn't have time to go to the store. After the meeting we did end up going to the store, so I got him a present. Then we headed home on the train. Now, to get home we had to take a train to Santa Fe, yes I was singing Newsies on the way home.
But after the train stop in Santa Fe, we had to take an Uber. Every Uber would get close to picking us up and then cancel. It took an hour and a half to actually get our Uber. Then it took another 4 and a half hours to get home because traffic was really bad. So between the train and the Uber it should have been 2 hours, but it actually took us 6.
In the Uber
Still in the Uber.
It was actually kind of fun though. Me and Elder Stoddard just spent a lot of time talking.
Finally made it home at 10:30
Friday, people couldn't stop feeding us all day. Every lesson we got more food. By the time we got to our actually dinner appointment we weren't hungry but we still ate everything. We had a meeting with 2 investigators who have a baptismal date but haven't been coming to church. We told them they need to come to church to get baptized and they were like oops okay yeah we'll come this week. Unfortunately, they didn't, so we're going to have to drop their baptisms. Super sad.

Saturday we had on and off lessons. It was a pretty average day. The food was fire. We had spaghetti and cheese and then chicken with some super yummy red salsa on it. English class also went great, we get new people every week!
After our English class, we couldn't find an eraser for the white board so Elder Stoddard used his hand
Snacks after English class
Sunday we had an investigator come to church and we learned that Antonio isn't actually living with his 'wife' so we set a new baptismal date for next Sunday. We just have to make sure he's not drinking coffee. Then we went to our food appointment. After that we went and tried to find new people to teach from the area around the church. After that we went to Elder Stoddard's My Plan lesson.
Waiting for Elder Stoddard to finish his meeting.

This week while I waited for him, I started working on a Pokémon Battle simulator in Google sheets. It's crazy how much you can do with that app. If you're looking to get in to game development I guess Google sheets is an option. It's actually been a super good outlet for me so that's nice.

Today was fun. We started off with a game of Catan and and then drove out to this massive aqueduct called Arcos de Xalpa.
Super cool! Definitely go look at the pictures.

Then we spent an hour waiting for a bus back. We're currently on our way home. Overall, good P-day!

This is Elder Stoddard's last week in the mission and the last week of transfers. Next email, Elder Stoddard will be gone, but I won't quite be with my new comp yet. I should know who it is though, so stay tuned!

The title of today's email actually comes from the meeting on Thursday with all the greenies. Elder Stoddard loves making that joke anytime we suggest any sort of stupid idea - What are they going to do? Send me home? Well this time he made the joke and we all just kind of stared at him and to the person standing behind him. He turns around and realizes President is standing there. It was pretty funny and we all started laughing.

Please pray for our friends!
Antonio - Needs help not drinking coffee.
Monse - She's been sick and in the hospital for the last week.
Joan and Suemi - We need them to come to church!

Love you all!
Elder Robinson
