Week 10 - Colmena - Washing Machine In One Bathroom, Skillet In The Other - August 4, 2025

Hola Todos!
Cascada at Llano de Lobos
So this week we got a new washing machine! Our old one was broken when we got here so we've been hand washing clothes. Not a fan. But, after enough complaining the mission office showed up with a new washing machine! Now, the reason the old one broke was because it was set up outside on the roof (in the rain). So, when we were getting the new one set up Elder Stoddard said, wait we have a broken bathroom upstairs, can we put it in there? Yes, yes we could. But to get it in we had to take off the bathroom door, which basically means not only did we get a new washing machine, we also got a new table for playing Catan! If you've never used a door as a table, I highly recommend it.

The next day they also gave us a new skillet (plug in hot plate/burner) because our old one wasn't very good at cooking food. Well we decided the old one was still good for warming water, so we stuck it in the bathroom to warm up water for our showers! So basically we have a new water heater! I wish.

Also Wednesday was my first zone conference. It was super fun to be with so many missionaries!

We ended up playing soccer which was fun. My comp also gave his final testimony. I would say he did good, but I don't know enough Spanish yet to know if that's true. But actually he did a good job. His talk was like the only one I understood.
Weird things I see in Mexico.
Thursday Elder Stoddard made me plan the whole day and lead us. Lot of pressure but I think it went okay. The hardest part is that I have the sim card so I have to stay on top of all of our messages.
Friday and Saturday were pretty standard. English class is going well. We keep having new people show up, which is great!
Found a Wagoneer!

Sunday was a typical Sunday as well. I bore my testimony and it went alright. For food we went over to a restaurant that a member pays for us to go eat at. Well we showed up and some members were there. Weird, but also fun. Well then the member that pays for it pulls up with a bunch of people from the ward. Then the bishop pulls up with his wife. So we literally ate with half the ward at the restaurant after church. It was a party!

Later that day Elder Stoddard had to do another lesson to prepare for going home, so while he did that I programmed Minesweeper in Google sheets. It works surprisingly well.

This week was hard because it feels like we did nothing. Between district counsel, installing our washer, zone conference, and nobody answering their doors, we really didn't have any lessons or contacts this week.

P-day today has been a good start to the week. We went out to a lake at Llano de Lobos with the zone and had a picnic, played some games, and went on a hike. Super nice to get out of the city! I saw llama, lizards, snakes and axolotl (salamanders in the lake).

I love you all!

From our phone call: He cut his own hair this week. He said the barber shops have one style and it won't work with his curly hair. He asked us to send him some videos of how to cut your own curly hair! He did ask Elder Stoddard to cut the back but it looks like they did a good job!
