Hey everyone!
This week was fun! Its been like non stop raining here so its been hard to get a lot done, but let's go over the week.
Tuesday
I met my new comp, Elder Hickey. He's super chill and we get along well!
Wednesday
We went over to a park to study. While we were there I noticed this dude wandering around the park who just didn't look like he was on the same planet we were. Well, at some point he wandered over to our table and sat down across from us. Then he just sat there and stared at us for like 5 minutes. Eventually he started asking us questions and we taught him a little. Then he walked away... and then he came right back and asked us for help with his addiction. We taught him some more and gave him our number. Then he wandered away.
We also finally met some recent converts that Elder Stoddard and I could never get in contact with. They are from Pakistan and they are lit! It's 2 brothers and their mom. The mom speaks only a tiny bit of English and no Spanish. The younger brother speaks a decent amount of English but no Spanish. The oldest brother speaks both well. It was interesting talking to them because it was like a chain. We'd say something in English and it would move down the line from the oldest brother to the younger one and eventually translated to Urdu for the mom. They also fed us a ton of Pakistani foods. Super yummy!
Thursday
Thursday is when the rain started to come down like crazy. But just before that we had our food appointment with the relief society president. When we finished up we asked if she knew anyone we could go teach. Well she definitely did because we left that house with 10 new families to go find! Insane! But after we left, it started pouring rain, so we ran to the nearest Walmart to take shelter. After it stopped raining we went to go get on the bus to our next appointment. Well, something to know about these busses is they never really stop. They slow down, stop for half a second, and start moving before you've even actually gotten on. Well, this one just wasn't moving. It was super odd. So while we waited I decided to check our messages. We had one from a recent convert who lived right by that bus stop, asking if we could go to his house right then. We hurried off the bus. As soon as we got off, the doors closed and the bus left.
We made it to the convert's house and found out he wasn't home, but his mom was. His mom lives in a totally different part of Mexico and was just visiting for the week. That day was the birthday of her other son, who had previously died. We taught her about the plan of salvation. It was an amazing lesson. I know we needed to be there that day!
Friday
Rain. Just straight rain.

Saturday
Again rain. We just spent a lot of the day calling people. We also had English classes.
Sunday
It was sunny and we weren't about to waste the day. We planned out a line from our food appointment that day, around to every single reference the relief society president had given us and also to some other houses. We knocked almost every single door and most of them answered and asked us to come back another day, or brought us in for a lesson. Eventually it did start raining though, so we got inside and started calling more people. It was a super good day!
The title today came from one of the security guards outside of our neighborhood. As we were walking in he said in English "I hope you guys can swim" which was valid because to get past his little security station, I had to walk through water that was above my ankles.

I won't quote what he said after I walked through the water, but let's just say he was surprised that I just started trudging through it.
Anyways, that's it. Today we're just going to go get some shopping done.

Love you all!

An update posted today on Facebook by Sister Wallis:
“We are sincerely thankful for the prayers, love and support that have poured in from all over the world. It is a privilege for us to serve the Lord and share His message of peace, light and truth, alongside with beloved missionaries in the México México City West Mission. Our message comes from God, and we love to share this good news of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ with the world.
“Our call to serve in Mexico City came from a Prophet, and we will continue to serve the Lord, with our missionaries. Our message is to help people come unto Christ, find peace, understand their purpose in life and share the plan of happiness that is available to everyone.
“As you are aware, in the early morning hours of Aug. 16, 2025, an armed intruder entered our home and a struggle ensued. The intruder fired two shots at point-blank range. One of those 9mm rounds entered Tyler’s body in the center of his upper abdomen and exited his body near his hip, miraculously missing his organs and arteries.
“In that initial moment of fear, we felt God and His angels protecting us. The only way to explain the outcome of this harrowing event is a miracle. We believe God is a God of miracles. The Book of Mormon asks the question “Have miracles ceased? ... Nay; neither have angels ceased to minister unto the children of men” (Moroni 7:27-29). We have witnessed miracles and have had angels, both heavenly and earthly, minister to us.
“We are sensitive that not every situation has the same outcome as ours, and we mourn with those who have been tragically separated from loved ones. No one is immune from trials in life, and some of them are the result of the wrong choices of others. As we each recognize that we have an eternal purpose, which includes life after death, we can find peace in our trials. We are grateful that by God’s will, Tyler’s life was spared, and a full recovery is expected.
“Thank you for your prayers, messages, love and faith. We have been sustained with peace during this challenging time, and we sincerely thank you for supporting us by calling down the powers of heaven on our behalf.
“Sincerely,
“Tyler and Elizabeth Wallis”
