Week 14 - Colmena - Too Many Forms! - September 1, 2025

Hey everyone!

Oh boy what a week! Buckle up because... actually we didn't do anything this week.

Last p-day we both woke up feeling off, so we made a Costco run and then just went back to the house and rested. I did get a pretty lit vest on the way to Costco though.

The rest of the week basically went like this. We wake up, I'm feeling alright, my comp is not. I eat, suddenly I feel like crap. We do everything we had planned until our food appointment and then we go home and do calls and then go to bed early.
Then came Thursday, my worst day. I woke up feeling bad. We went to the food appointment and after I ate, I got totally light headed and dizzy. I couldn't think. We went home and I was out immediately. I slept for about 12 hours.

Then came Friday. I woke up great. It was the best I've felt all week. Elder Hickey did not get up. He was in a ton of pain. We call our mission doctor and because of where the pain was, the mission doctor sends us to the hospital. This hospital was outside of our mission. It is in the Mexico City North mission. Back story, Elder Hickey was in the hospital for a few days last transfer. The mission doctor was worried it was the same problem. We show up, Elder Hickey fills out some forms and then we go into an urgent care room... where we sat for 9 hours.

They were doing constant tests and checks on Elder Hickey for the first 3 hours and then they told him that they had one more quick test and then they'd send us to an actual room. As you can probably guess, they didn't come back and do that test for a while.
In the urgent care room waiting to get moved to a regular room.

Well, at about the 7 hour mark they pull me out to fill out some forms for Elder Hickey. They hand me a pile and start talking. I stare blankly back. A moment of silence as we both realize this is going to be a long process because I understand nothing. I finished the first form just fine because it was just my signature, but the second was not and I understood none of it.

I'm starting to get a little stressed and then I felt a hand on my back. I turn to see three totally random dudes staring back at me. One says "Do you need help Elder?"... in Spanish. Of course I figured these three dudes recognize me as a missionary, so they might have a better understanding of my situation than the hospital lady who was already helping me. So I said yes, then they explained that they were, in fact, the 3 Nephites... no just kidding they were the bishopric for the area we were in! Apparently the Sister missionaries in that area were also in the hospital so they were coming to visit them.

Funnily enough, having a chain of Spanish speakers was super helpful. The hospital lady would explain the form and then one of the bishopric members would simplify and give me an example of what it was asking and I would do my best to fill out the form. It was a big blessing they showed up when they did!

Anyways, so eventually Elder Hickey and I got to a room. Not much else has happened. Lots of movies have been watched. We're supposed to get out of here by Tuesday. But I'm not sure that's going to happen. It doesn't sound like he's improving as fast as they thought he would. So please pray for Elder Hickey!

Love you all!
Elder Robinson

From our phone call:
Sam is sleeping on a couch in Elder Hickey's room. He came without a pillow or blanket so he is using his trench coat as a blanket and case for the trench coat filled with clothes for a pillow.

He was using uber eats to get food delivered to the hospital but the drivers kept not dropping the food off where Sam was asking them to bring it. He was walking around random streets near the hospital alone trying to find the drivers. One driver got mad and dropped his food in a bush and left. He took a picture of it to show Sam he had dropped the food off. Sam never found the bush or the food. Sam finally realized the hospital shared a parking garage with a mall next door. He felt safer walking through the parking garage to the mall to get food at the mall. So he stopped using uber eats and would just walk through the parking garage to the mall to get his food.
In our regular room with one of the zone leaders. The other one wasn't allowed in the hospital because he forgot his ID.
The zone leaders came to visit on Sunday and had stopped at Sam and Elder Hickey's apartment beforehand to grab a pillow and blanket for Sam and some toiletry items for Elder Hickey. The zone leaders accidentally forgot all of that stuff in the uber car when they got to the hospital. They haven't been able to locate any of it :(

It's been an adventurous week!
