Week 21 - Mexico City - The Office Season 1 Ep 3 - October 21, 2025

What's up everyone! I'm back already.

So what did I do over the last few days?
Let me tell you.
Friday
We spent most of the day out doing contacts or having lessons! It was super fun. We ended off the day with office work.
Saturday
Exchanges with the ZLs. We showed up when they told us to and then they told us they had a meeting over Zoom with the APs in an hour, so we just sat around for an hour and then two. But then we finally started. Me and Elder Murri stayed in the ZLs area with one of our ZLs. The other ZL and Elder Nielsen went to our area. We spent the whole day doing street contacts and it was so fun. I hated street contacts in Colmena, but the people here are way nicer about it so it's way more fun. We went to contact in this plaza and got a few numbers and then all of the sudden people start storming the plaza!
The Cruz Azul (one of the major soccer teams here in Mexico City) had just won their game and all of the fans were coming here to celebrate.

So after watching the chaos for a minute we decided we should probably do contacts somewhere else. This is where the most inspired series of street contacts I've ever had started. So we walk to a random street and after a minute of walking our ZL asks where we should go. Elder Murri suggested that we should pray, so we do. Mid prayer I had a strong impression that we needed to turn around, so after the prayer I told them, and Elder Murri agreed. So we turned around. Then I had a feeling we needed to go into this indoor "street" market. Then before I could say anything, Elder Murri suggested the same idea. We go to walk in and this lady is struggling to get her bag up the steps, so we help her out and then teach her and get her number. While that was happening, another lady comes by and asks us who we are so then we start teaching her too. Then, when we finished up both of those lessons, I told Murri and our ZL we needed to turn right, so we started our journey through the market. And we just had lesson after lesson after lesson. If you could track our path through the market you would be wondering what we were doing because it was all over the place, but it was fully guided by the spirit! Then to end the night off we decided we needed to go down this really sketch unlit street. We walked for like 30 minutes with no one in sight. Eventually we found a security guard outside of a gated area. He was goated! Then we went and met up with the other ZL and Elder Neilsen and ate tacos. Good day!
Sunday
My first day meeting the ward! They seem super awesome. After that we finally actually met our new mission president.
President and Sister Jasso at the Torreon, Mexico temple groundbreaking a few years ago.

We had a 3 hour meeting. I'm now simultaneously super excited for the mission and super scared for the mission. He has a lot of good views on the mission. He also wants to give me a lot more work to do. A lot of it seems super unnecessary, but I guess we'll see.

Monday
Exchanges with the APs. This is a little abnormal, but the APs are in our zone and we do a lot together so they decided, for Elder Murri's sake, that they would do exchanges with us. It was great. The AP that stayed with us wants to go to BYU, so the whole time he studied for his English exam, which was nice because it meant we got to get work done.
My drawing of Elder Valledares. He started to draw me.
Tuesday
Temple time! I love the temple. And now I'm here writing this email.
Dinner at a member's burger restaurant after the temple. Embers Restaurante.

Alright, funny story that made it feel like I could actually be in The Office for a minute. During our meeting with the new president, the APs were there too. When we met the new president and his wife before the meeting the told us they were vegetarian. Well, mid meeting we're talking about the food for our upcoming zone conferences. We told them we were having Panda Express. They didn't know what it was so we went to explain and then one of the APs cuts in and just goes "IT'S CHICKEN AND BEEF AND MEAT. ITS SO GOOD YOU DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND. IT'S ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. " Meanwhile the Mission President and his wife are just like 😐 and we're all just trying not to laugh. Then after a minute of dead silence they asked what we were having for the leadership meeting and we told them it was going to be Popeye's. They again asked what it was and without fail the AP jumps right back in "IT'S CHICKEN. INCREDIBLE CHICKEN BURGERS.  SO GOOD! SO GOOD! YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW" again followed by 😐 and trying not to laugh. Then after a minute of silence Elder Murri just goes "We can find you a salad".

"I am about to do something very bold in this job that I’ve never done before: try." - Jim Halpert

That's all for this week!

I love you all!
