Week 24 - Mexico City - The Office Season 1 Ep 6 - November 10, 2025

What's up everyone. I figured if I don't send this out early I probably wouldn't send it at all.

Welcome back to another episode of is it really p-day? Lets get right into it.

Tuesday
We just had some office work to do. We also decided to work on the newbie bags for all the new missionaries.
Basically, every new missionary gets a duffle bag with a pillow, a blanket, some sheets, and other fun stuff and I have to make them all. It's actually pretty fun and a nice break from everything else I have to do.
Also I think it was today when Elder Mendoza started calling me Elder Uber. It's pretty funny because that's all the mission seems to think I do, get Ubers for people.
Elder Reembolsos (aka Elder Nelson aka Elder Reimbursements) Elder Uber (aka Elder Robinson) Elder Renta (aka Elder Mendoza who handles housing and rent) Elder Buzon de Voz (aka Elder Badillo who handle voice mailbox referrals)
Wednesday
We just grinded through office work.

Thursday
We got up at 4am to go take a missionary home.
Tired missionaries waiting at the airport. We always wait until the flight leaves before we leave.

Muh. Then we took a senior missionary through immigration... this was not planned. What happened is she needs to go back to the US for a funeral. Well, you aren't supposed to leave Mexico before you go through immigration for your first time. She had not been through immigration before. Unfortunately you can only schedule appointments 2 weeks in advance so that wasn't going to work in time for the funeral she needs to go to. So we had to prepare for an emergency immigration trip. We got a ton of documents ready proving that she actually needed to go back. Luckily, eventually, she got let in for an appointment. But when she came out, she told us that they said we needed to come back... guess when... Monday (today). Luckily everything is done, we just need to pay for it and print it and she will make it home in time.

Friday
We woke up at a normal time but still left early to take another missionary home.
Elders Murri, Robinson and Nelson waiting at the airport day two.
Prepare yourself for a story because this was not a good day. His flight was from here to Florida and then from Florida to Lima, Peru and then from Lima to his little home airport in Peru. We take him in to check in and they tell us he's not allowed to board because he needs to have a visa to go to the US where his Florida layover is. Not a good church travel moment. So, we hurry and call up the church travel department and tell them we need a new flight immediately that doesn't go through the US. After probably an hour and a half the new flight was secured and he was on his way to Peru. Now, he should be home free. We had already called the church last week about his flight from Lima to his home airport because we noticed they hadn't actually bought the flight. They assured us they had now purchased that flight and he was good to go...right?  WRONG! Story continues after the next adventure of the day.

We got back from the airport after dropping him off and got a little side tracked because, Mom cover your ears... or I guess your eyes, the office was kind of attacked while we were gone!  Apparently some dude comes walking in during the day (not unusual) and walks over to where our printer is. Now the way the office is set up there is a big window that divides the offices into two rooms.

The two Latino secretaries have the other side of the offices, so when this goes down they are in their little room. The printer is over by the big divider window. So imagine sitting at your desk and standing directly in front of you, separated by a window is a random dude. Then imagine that as you're staring at him, he has yet to acknowledge Elder Mendoza or Elder Badillo, you remember that sitting by the printer is a large knife (we had celebrated a missionaries birthday the previous week and for whatever reason the knife for the cake was put there after it got cleaned). Then imagine you watch the man reach down and start fiddling with something just barely out of your sight, possibly the knife. Then after a minute he finally lifts something into view, a piece of paper (phew), then he just drops it and walks to the door to the room the secretaries are in. He opens it, stares at them for a minute and the goes "Hey, can I borrow a pen". They give him the pen and he just walks away. Then a few minutes later they here some crashing sounds outside. They don't think anything of it because they couldn't entirely tell where it was coming from. Well, eventually Elder Mendoza decides to go look out the window to see outside and sees that our basketball court is trashed. He goes out to see that our entire storage facility had been destroyed. Glass everywhere, mattresses cut up, things torn to pieces. Well, we get back and are glad to hear this random dude decided not to pick up the knife! It has since been decided that there will be a locked gate outside the mission offices that we have to buzz people through when they have deliveries. No more random dudes walking in and destroying the place!

Continuation of the bad flight story from earlier in the day. After surveying the damage from the random dude, we get back to work and go to pay for another checked bag for the second flight for the missionary we had just sent home. We put in all the information and get told his second flight doesn't exist. What? We call the church up again and ask and the lady why his flight doesn't exist. Marisol, who is the goat, tells us that whoever we called up last week was not doing their job because they in fact did not pay for the flight because it in fact does not exist. Why and how were we given an itinerary to a flight that doesn't exist, I don't know. So she goes, "give me a second" and puts us on hold for 30 minutes. Gives us more information and goes, "don't worry, I got this. if you don't have an itinerary in 2 hours call me back and ask for me". Well an hour later we don't have an itinerary. Well, quick fun fact: to change any flights we need approval from the head of the travel office or approval from our mission president. Well it was 10:30 P.M. at this point and Marisol was still trying to get approval. Well another hour goes by and she calls us up and tells us she got approval to book a new flight... but it's too late and the last seat on the plane was taken. Then she proceeded to tell us every seat on every plane to his little airport is taken until November 15th... it was currently the 7th and the missionary was already in the air on his first flight to Lima. So we sent him a billion messages letting him know the situation with no response, so we assumed he was already asleep because it was already 11:30 p.m. and luckily he was staying with family that night in Lima.

Saturday
Well the next morning he calls us up and tells us his phone isn't working and he can't see our messages but that he's at the airport and they wont let him in because they say his flight doesn't exist. Well, we explain the situation and give him some options. He says okay, he's going to think about the options and hangs up. A few minutes later he calls us back and tells us he's going to take a system of buses and taxis to get home. It took him like 11 hours to get to his house from Lima instead of what should have been a 45 minute flight. This whole situation was awful and I feel so bad for him, but I'm glad he's finally home.
Waiting on hold. In Mexico when you are on hold, you either get a dial tone or this amazing song.

Sunday
Transfers. Guess what mine are? I'm staying here for another transfer! Oh wait I already knew that. Three more transfers here. I can't believe I'm done with one already. But Elder Murri is finally being freed! And he's going to go be with his last comp from the offices. Yep that's right he's going to go do another transfer with the same dude he spent the last 4 transfers with in the office. He is super excited. The whole mission thinks it's hilarious. Also Elder Nielsen is now district leader which makes me assistant (to the) district leader. Yep, that's how it works. Go check todays quote if you're confused.

Some members took us to their house for dinner. There are seven of us and their car didn't have that many seats. Elder Murri and I took the trunk.

Monday
Today we are going to finish up the Senior Hermana's migration (remember the first story of the senior missionary who needs to go home for a funeral) and then go to buy a bunch of food for the 20 billion meetings that are going on this week. Then we have to set up for the meeting that's happening today for all the new missionaries. So, no P-day. Bummer. But that's how it goes.
