Week 32 - Mexico City - The Office Season 3 Ep 3 - January 5, 2026

What's up everyone!

I hope you all had a good week! We're finally back to normal Monday P-days(I hope).
So anyways, what happened this week?
Thursday:
Lowkey don't remember what we did. I think just office work until about 6 when we had to be in our houses for our safety. Mexicans party hard, and by party hard I mean drink a lot, so our president told us all we had to be in our houses during the evening hours. That's chill though because it meant a night full of Catan and Splendor. 10/10 recommend game night.
                                                   Why just walk?

Friday:
Picture this, you're sleeping peacefully, enjoying a dream about eating tacos de pastor, or even chilaquiles(wow you have good taste in food). Then suddenly WAH WAH WAH WAH in the distance, it's alright though because you have your chilaquiles and your tacos de pastor (that's right, now you're dreaming about both). But then suddenly along with the WAH WAH WAH WAH in the distance you hear WAH WAH WAH WAH right in your ear. You wake up. The sound is earthquake sirens coming from the distance and a natural disaster alert coming from your phone. That was how my morning went. I may have seen what was going on and turned back over to go to sleep. Fortunately for my mom, I have a comp that told me to get up, so I did. Us 4 secretaries walked down all 6 flights of stairs. Meanwhile our building is shaking back and forth. By the time we got to the bottom the earthquake stopped. We still walked outside and stood in the cold for about 5 minutes though. Nothing like being in your PJs outside with everyone else on your street.

Then we had exchanges with the ZLs. I went over to their area to work with Elder Thompson. Fun fact, Elder Thompson was my first DL. Anyways we pulled up to their church to start the exchanges and I saw a little baby lizard scrambling around on the floor of the church.
I picked him up, took some pictures and then set him outside. He then promptly ran straight back through the gap under the door into the church. He knows what's up.

Me and Elder Thompson had a great day. We set a baptismal date. Ate KFC with some members. Helped the members sort packages for their business, and then went out to a little pueblo. It was great. While we were out we ended up deciding to stop by the house of a friend they had taught earlier in the week that they wanted to remind to come to church on Sunday. We show up and end up teaching a lesson. Then half way through, a member just pulls up and starts helping us with the lesson. W member. So we finish up the lesson and start doing street contacts and knocking doors. We starting walking to go find a specific house when Elder Thompson says, "I don't feel like this is the right way we need to go". So we prayed and then decided to go back the way we came. Eventually we make it back to the main plaza and the second person we street contacted told us that he actually knows exactly who we are and that his mom got baptized 2 years ago and that he reads the Book of Mormon every night with his wife and kids. We also found out he's never gotten the lessons or been baptized. Crazy stuff!
We also ran into another guy that, when we asked if he wanted to learn about Jesus, he just responded, "What do you want to eat". We were confused and he clarified by asking, "Have you had dinner?" Still confused he clarified one more time, "Let's eat and we can talk more about Jesus." Well after some convincing that we didn't need food we ended up seated inside a taco restaurant. The dude told us to order as many as we wanted. Elder Thompson tried to order 2 tacos but then this guy stopped him and said "He'll have 6 tacos." So we all had 7 tacos. Yep, he ordered us all 1 more after we each finished our 6 tacos. During our dinner he told us he had talked to the missionaries 7 years ago. We ended up teaching him a lesson and he made 0 promises to come to church. Thus is missionary life.
Great day of intercambios with Elder Thompson!
Saturday:
Saturday happened.

Sunday:
Oh what a joy it is to have 1pm church in the mission. It means we can have our normal morning schedule without needing to skip anything. Esteban and Cristina continue to show up every week! That's about all that happened on Sunday.

Monday:
We played spike ball with the APs and then went and got poke bowls. It was actually a solid P-Day. I also had fun talking to my family on Google Meet!

My secret Santa gift from Elder Badillo!
Spiritual thought:
Uhm all I got today is to listen to this talk from President Oaks - The Teachings of Jesus Christ. It is from April 2023 and he spends the whole talk reciting the exact words of Christ from the bible and the Book of Mormon. It's super cool hearing the words of Christ coming from the prophet!

Thats all!

I love you all!
